Abstract

In this work, we studied and applied methods and techniques to extract scandium from red mud which considered as a toxic waste from extracting aluminum, using the electric arc furnace (EAF) technology to melt dried samples of red mud. Moving next to acid leaching using HCL, HNO3, H2SO4 in different concentrations and normality with different temperatures to extract scandium. Electric electrodes and filtration processes were applied after distilled water wash. Finding the results using both electric microscope and ICP technology to analyze the extracting elements.
