Abstract

At the present state of the art of the ozoniser constructing technology the humidity of the feed gas substantially reduces the ozone yield. That is, for the satisfactory operation a very expensive equipment for drying air is necessary. The novel ceramic-based ozoniser devices using surface discharge from discharge electrodes placed on the surface of a high purity alumina ceramics plate with the aid of an induction conducting sheet embedded inside seems to give an appropriate solution to this problem. The effect of the humidity on the humidity on the ozone productivity of this surface discharge type ozoniser devices was investigated both for a.c. and travelling wave excitation modes. The ozone productivity was discovered to less depend on the humidity than yield of the conventional ozonisers. The effect of humidity on the ozone generation rate by pulsing differs between positive and negative exciting voltages. The decomposition of ozone proved to be a thermal activated process.
